Lucas Sparrow

Lucas Sparrow is an American composer of contemporary art music residing in Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Bob Jones University in 2025 where he studied with Dr. Seth Custer, and is currently working towards a Master of Music in Composition degree at Bowling Green State University.

Lucas’s compositions are deeply influenced by Lucas’s desire for inevitability within music. Lucas desires for each of his pieces to unfold naturally and pleasantly, yet not necessarily predictably, in order to achieve a strong emotional effect within his music. He enjoys exploring different sound pallets and instrumentations and has written for various different ensembles.

Recent premiers include 3 pieces which were premiered on his senior recital, including a piece for a 20 player wind ensemble entitled Prelude to a Woe, a piece for Tenor and Piano Quintet entitled Do Not Be Afraid, Abraham, and a Nocturne for Euphonium and Piano.
